Laiz Coffee Table

A solid black marble coffee table as the central piece of the living room

It is 94.2 kg of marble, and that figure explains the piece better than any adjective. You place it once, between several people, and it stays. In return it gives what only stone gives: a polished surface, cold to the touch, that does not give or deform and that gains presence precisely by not trying to look light.

The marble is black and the finish polished. It is a material that rewards care: it is cleaned with a damp cloth, warm water and neutral soap, and has to be dried completely afterwards; for ingrained dirt, a soft-bristled brush. It is best not to leave liquids standing on it for long, as with any natural stone.

It measures 120 × 60 cm and 35 cm high: an elongated, low proportion that follows the line of the sofa and keeps the view clear above it. In a living room of light tones it works as a dark counterweight; in a dark one, as a block that orders the centre. It is the piece around which everything else is placed.

It compares with the rest of the designer coffee tables.
