Skorup Dining Table

A round dining table in white marble on a conical wooden base

These are two materials of opposite character. The top is circular, in white marble, a cold, luminous stone that returns the light of the lamp and that brings a different pattern in every piece. It is held up by a solid conical base of reclaimed wood in aged brown, centred beneath the top, with the texture and the marks of a wood that already had an earlier life. The whole is rustic at the support and serene at the surface.

It measures 120 cm in diameter and 76 cm high. Being round it has no heads of table: every place is worth the same, people can see each other and the conversation does not split between two ends. Against a rectangular table of the same size it takes up less corner and lets you walk all the way around, so it fits better in square dining rooms and in open kitchens on a narrow route.

The conical base concentrates the support in the centre and leaves the perimeter free of legs, so chairs go in at any point on the edge. The marble is natural and asks for particular care: pick up spills at once and keep acidic products away, no lemon or vinegar. It weighs 84.3 kg and arrives in two packages, base and top separately.

It is catalogued among the round stone-and-wood dining tables.
