Telfs Side Table

Distinctive side tables in concrete: domestic architecture

The Telfs side table works with concrete in a way few pieces of domestic furniture dare to explore. Not as a coating or an imitation of another material, but as the lead material in its pure state: with its characteristic texture, its visual weight and its grey colour that shifts tone with the light of the room. The Telfs is therefore one of the collection's distinctive side tables in the most literal sense: a piece that could not exist in any other material without losing its identity.

Concrete has a genuine tactile presence you perceive even visually. Its surface is not perfectly uniform: it shows small variations of texture that add depth and authenticity to the piece, and also guarantee that no Telfs is exactly like another. That singularity, combined with its restrained, contained character, makes it a decorative element of great aesthetic value.

Sculptural volume at a domestic scale

Its dimensions of 54×54×46 cm give it a compact but not small scale: the Telfs takes its place in the living room with presence and stability, with no need to add elements to reinforce it. Its height of 46 cm, slightly above that of most side tables, places it at a comfortable point of use from sofas and armchairs of standard height.

The form of its soft lines contrasts with the hardness of the concrete, creating a tension between the rigidity of the material and the fluidity of the form that is visually interesting. That softness of outline also makes it more domestic and welcoming than concrete might suggest at first sight. It therefore integrates easily into interiors with an industrial or contemporary look as much as into warmer, more organic spaces.

A piece that needs no company

The Telfs needs no other pieces to have presence. Placed on its own in the centre of the living room, it acts as the element that visually organises the space and gives it a recognisable character. Its care is simple: warm water and diluted bleach are enough to keep it in perfect condition for years. In short, it is for those after distinctive side tables that are also a lasting investment in design.

To complete the sitting area, combine it with one of our modern living-room rugs in neutral tones that visually anchor the composition.
