Derath Side Table

A modern living-room side table with a Mediterranean soul

The Derath side table takes its name from the Greek island and justifies it: the off-white terrazzo and the organic lines of its silhouette evoke whitewashed Mediterranean architecture, where edges are rounded and forms softened to live with the sun and the landscape. The Derath therefore has a visual serenity that few modern living-room side tables achieve: it does not stir the space, it calms it.

Solid terrazzo is a material of great visual richness despite its apparent simplicity. The small aggregate inclusions that characterise it create variations of tone and texture that are especially apparent in side or natural light, adding depth to the surface without the need for prints or reliefs. The matt finish also avoids reflections and makes the piece integrate more easily into spaces with intense light.

Organic lines that soften the space

The silhouette of the Derath is not geometric in the strict sense: its soft curves and rounded profile set it apart from the right-angled side tables that dominate the contemporary market. It is therefore especially suited to living rooms where there are already many straight lines and what you want is an element that breaks that rigidity naturally. A table of this kind can change how a whole space reads simply through its form.

Its dimensions of 33×33×40 cm make it a piece of contained scale, ideal for placing beside armchairs, in corners or as part of a composition alongside larger tables. Its height of 40 cm also makes it comfortable to use from lower seats such as pouffes or low Japanese- or Scandinavian-style seating.

For sitting areas after serenity and sophistication

In short, the Derath is for those who understand that the most sophisticated decoration is not always the most complex. Sometimes a piece of noble material, honest form and precise finish is all a space needs.

To enhance its Mediterranean look, combine it with one of our modern living-room rugs in natural tones that share its serene spirit.
