Shadowe Pendant Light

An 80 cm jute shade to bring warm texture to a dining room

The shade combines jute in brown with natural fibre in light brown. They are two tones from the same family, so the contrast reads as texture rather than as colour. The jute is thick-threaded and somewhat irregular, and it lets the light through between the weaves: switched on it spreads a filtered, warm brightness and casts a pattern on the ceiling. Natural fibres are cared for dry, with no water or cleaning products.

At 80 × 80 cm and 82 cm high it has volume to spare to centre a room, but it weighs only 3.6 kg. That lightness is its practical advantage: it makes hanging easier and lets you put it over a round table, in a bedroom or in an entrance hall without thinking too much about the load on the ceiling. The shape is wide with a long drop, so it is best hung high if people pass underneath.

It is the light for an interior with a boho or Mediterranean feel, with light wood, linen and ceramics. You can see it alongside the rest of the designer ceiling lights.
