A generous mango wood desk for a permanent work surface

The top measures 160 × 80 cm, more surface than an ordinary desk gives. Two screens fit, or one screen with a notebook and papers open beside it, and there is still free edge left. The 80 cm depth lets you keep the screen away from your eyes, which is welcome over long days, and the working height is 77 cm.

It is made of mango wood in a brown tone, with the grain on show and a restrained finish, with no mouldings or added fronts. It is handmade: the tone varies from piece to piece and knots or small marks may appear, which here count as part of the material. It is cared for with a synthetic cloth and soapy water, drying with cotton; if varnished, a teaspoon of vinegar brings back the shine.

It weighs 47.1 kg, enough not to shift when you lean on it, and it requires assembly: it arrives in two packages, one with the 167 cm top and another with the structure. Its size calls for a study or a dedicated room rather than a corner of the living room.

It appears alongside the other desks in the catalogue.
