Dark Green Velvet Armchair

A high-backed armchair in green velvet for a contemporary living room

Proportion is what sets this armchair apart: 99 cm high against 85 wide and 84 deep. The high back is what you see first and what changes its use compared with a low armchair, because it supports the back up to the shoulders, and that tells over a long spell of reading or conversation.

The upholstery is a short-pile polyester velvet in dark green, which shifts tone with the light and draws out the relief of the seams. It is a closed green, closer to forest than to grass, and that is why it lives well with wood, brass and earth tones. It requires professional cleaning, like any velvet.

The leg is lacquered metal in matt black and stays visible, so the volume of the seat does not reach the floor and the piece breathes. With that back height it calls for a free wall behind it or a corner, rather than the middle of the room.

It is in the designer armchairs category.
