Lauris Sideboard

A light fir wood sideboard with matt black iron

25.3 kg for a unit 180 cm wide is very little, and that is what makes this piece particular. Fir is a low-density conifer and, combined with plywood, gives a light body that the matt black iron is there to stiffen. It can be moved without help, which is handy in rented flats or in homes where the layout changes.

The inside is made up of four doors, compartments of 82 × 35 × 50 cm and one fixed shelf with 24.5 cm of clear height, a short spacing that works well for stacked crockery and folded table linen. The load capacity is 30 kg, below that of sideboards in dense wood: the top takes lamps, baskets and books, but it is not the place for stone pieces nor a base for a television.

It measures 180 × 40 × 85 cm: full-wall width, contained depth and a high top. It requires assembly, the legs come apart and they have adjustable feet. The wood is cleaned with a synthetic cloth and soapy water; the metal with a damp cloth with water and soap, drying afterwards.

It is a Nordic-line piece, the kind that fits light interiors with natural textiles. You can compare it with the rest of the sideboards.
