Havre Sideboard

A mango wood sideboard with four independent compartments

The whole piece is mango wood in brown, with no combinations. Working with a single material has visible consequences: the grain carries on from one front to the next and the tone is uniform, so the unit does not clash next to floors or tables in another wood. The board is 2.5 cm thick, on the generous side, and mango is hard and close-grained.

The inside is organised into four compartments of 37 × 32 × 57.5 cm, one per door, with two fixed shelves leaving 28 cm of clear height. Dividing it into four verticals instead of two large bays has a practical advantage: each compartment holds one category, glasses in one and plates, table linen or bottles lying down in the others, and nothing gets disordered when you open a door. Each shelf takes 10 kg and the unit holds 60 kg.

It measures 180 × 40 × 80 cm and weighs 58.2 kg. That width makes it the main piece on a wall, and the 40 cm depth keeps the walkway clear in dining rooms that are not large. The wall anchor is included.

It is a neutral piece, the kind that suits a Nordic living room as readily as a more classic one. There are other sizes and finishes in sideboards.
