Droux Sideboard

Mango wood and matt marble in a four-door sideboard

Matt grey marble covers the top and brown mango wood forms the body. They are two materials that age differently: matt marble gives back no shine and hides the marks of use better than a polished surface, while mango settles its tone over the years. The top is 2.5 cm thick and the feet are adjustable, which is welcome on floors that are not quite level.

Behind the four doors there are compartments of 68 × 35 × 32 cm and two fixed shelves with 32 cm of clearance between them. That height lets stacked plates, platters and medium storage baskets through, though not standing bottles. The stated load capacity is 80 kg, so the top takes a full dinner service, a heavy lamp or a large ceramic piece.

The outer measurements are 175 × 40 × 80 cm. The 80 cm height puts the top at worktop level, comfortable for serving standing up; the 40 cm depth keeps the piece against the wall without eating into the walkway.

It fits contemporary dining rooms and living rooms that call for a touch of stone. It can be compared with the rest of our sideboards.
