A large-format viscose rug to dress the living room in brown

Viscose is the fibre that sets the feel of this piece: soft underfoot and with a discreet sheen that shifts as the light reaches it. Blended with polyester, it copes better with a floor in daily use than viscose on its own. The brown tones run from the lightest to the deepest, so the surface reads differently from each point in the room.

At 340 × 240 cm this is a rug that defines a whole area rather than decorating a corner. In a living room it takes the sofa with its front legs on top and the whole coffee table inside the border; in a bedroom, a double bed with room to spare on both sides and at the foot. It is 1 cm thick, just enough not to catch when a door opens. It weighs 16 kg, which keeps it still on the floor and is worth bearing in mind when laying it out: better with two people.

Its range of browns sits well with wood, leather and linen, and works as a warm base in neutral interiors. You can see it alongside the rest of our designer rugs.
